Went for a Walk Today
Today we decided to go for a walk. The plan was to go on a short drive out to some random place that had a lake. All was going well until we got there and the gate down to the lake was locked. It turns out it is closed during duck hunting season.
I like to think there was some sort of horrific final destination type death one year prompting them to lock it down. While sitting in the car looking at other options some woman who I assume was a local made her way through the gate towards the lake with 6 cats following her. Not sure what her story was but it was random.
We drove back into the city to go for a walk donw a gully pathway. We have a lot of these dotted around the city. They are tucked down behind residential streets. Theys sometimes aren't signposted and you are on the lookout for a path that heads down between 2 houses. You just park on a random street and off you go.
This set of paths branched out all over the place, with no real loop walk to any of it. You eventually would come to a main road and then have to turn around. A woman was walking with a couple of kids in front of us as we neared the end of one of these paths. She asked if that was the end, yup pretty much was my answer so they headed back.
We carried on backwards and down a different path, eventually turning back again to get back to the car.
On the way up the steep path between the 2 houses a hedgehog was on a mission down the path. No doubt to find some food or have a rest.
Love going for walks and seeing all the little things. From random signs, insect and animals to even people. It reminds me just how nice it is getting outside, and how there are things happening all around us away from the screens.
