Best Cookies Ever

Today we went to a market day held in a small nearby community. It seemed to be a monthly thing, plus I think they have some massive market once a year.

Our main reason to go was to see if my workmate was going to be there.

She's the newest member of our team. I was involved in the recruitment process to hire her. After her interview the boss and I looked at each other and said "she'll fit right in"

And she has. It's actually been really good getting the right person who can hit the ground running and pick up everything all while being themselves. One thing we learned is that she has a cookie business. One where she takes orders, bakes them at home and either drops them off or people pick up from her.

I got S some of them a while back and they were next level. They are so good. From conversations with the new worker it's probably because she doesn't use a master dough. She uses a specific one for each type of cookie she makes. This master dough information really made sense of some cookies we had over the Christmas period.

While we were away we went to this viral cookie shop and spent way too much money on a bunch of different cookies. The harsh reality was they sorta all tasted the same. I think they were all the same master dough, then had different things on top.

My co-workers are so much better.

She knows they are good. She knows people like them. She's just missing one thing.

Confidence.

She does have it, just not enough of it. She sort of flops between doubting herself, her product and her pricing. Other times she is owning it. It's sort of strange to see it play out in real time. Especially if you've experienced people with very low confidence.

We talk about her cookies, her plans and dreams a lot at work. One of the other workers who is a qualified graphic designer is offering to do work on it for free. Partly because they believe in the product and partly to use the degree they have and don't use in their current job.

Back to today.

These markets are always a mix of things. Sometimes there are usual items people are selling.

Stand out stalls this year was the guy that had colourful oversized golf ball looking things with a character stuck on the stop. Initially I had no idea what they were. Turns out they are a tow ball cover for your vehicle.

Bumped into a different co-worker as well, they had already got cookies from the other co-worker and was waiting on some friends to finish their tarot reading.

The tarot reading tent seemed to be a couple of teenagers with tarot deck and a book they were consulting to give the reading. Good on them I guess.

After looking around and grabbing a coffee we headed home.
