Winning Things
I never win money. I don't really gamble apart form the odd lottery ticket, scratchie or a visit to a casino about once every 2 years.
I've been next to people that have won big on pokie machines. I've been one of only two people in a gaming room and the other person one the jackpot. It's OK, I know that money isn't something I win, I don't chase it.
Physical products though. I'm good at winning those.
Give me a competition to enter and there is a better chance of me winning that then money. I've entered all sorts over the years and won all sorts as well. Big bluetooth speaker, a giant chilly bin, all sorts of random things turn up.
I love entering a prize draw and not knowing you have won, then a box turns up on the doorstep. Always a magical experience for me.
I also believe that if you put things out enough into the universe you somehow come into the chance to win the thing you really want. Sounds crazy, but I think it works.
When I was younger for the longest time I wanted a video camera, couldn't afford one at all. But somehow entered a competition, got votes on it and won the video camera.
One thing I'm throwing out into the universe is my need or want of a metal detector. I don't know why I am drawn to this. I went down a giant rabbit hole a couple of years ago, was obsessed around the idea of it. researched everything, was on forums and all of that.
Just couldn't pull the trigger on paying for one. I'd only want to buy once, so was starting in the mid-range models.
I find it hard when there is no day to day use for an item, or no multi purpose use for it. So eventually I weaned myself off of my want. Until yesterday that is. There was a show thing I went to, and Minelab metal detectors was there, spoke to the rep and their ambassador. They showed me the latest machine they have out now (Minelab Vanquish 360) as well as some photos of gold the ambassador had found with his big expensive gold metal detector.
This fired up my want for one again. They also had a competition to win one.
Right now I'm throwing it out into the universe that it is time for me to win a metal detector and I look forward to coming home to finding an unknown package on the door. I'll let you know when it happens.
