Real Estate Agents and Buses

I'm guessing this is common all over the place, but what's the deal with real estate agents being on the back of buses?

First off I've never had to deal with a real estate agent in my life. You could say it's due to good choices, or maybe it's down to bad financial planning mixed with people I'd rather have not wasted time with.

But if I was going to interact with a real estate agent, I'm not sure if a bus would make me want to contact them.

First off they usually have a shit eating grin on their face, the type that makes you think they have no soul. Sometimes they are surrounded by their team. They are all smiling looking as cheerful as they can be for a staged photo. There's always one memeber of the team that looks like they might be a serial killer.

Sometimes they'll also proclaim some sort of award they've won. Either best in something, or most houses sold in an area. If you look into it, they usually are some award their own company has come up with. Something we're all supposed to be proud of I guess?

This whole marketing strategy doesn't seem effective to me, but it must work? They are always on the back of buses here. Or is it some sort of weird circle jerk where they think it's working? Maybe it's really cheap?

I dunno. Just something I was thinking about as I drove into work this morning following some bus with a giant face and phone number of some real estate agent I do not care for.
