Got a New Casual Job

I've got a cold and I hate it.

I took today off of work. Not something I like to do as there will be lots to catch up on later.

I saw the saying the other day which went something along the lines of, on your deathbed your not going to be remembering the job you had. It's all the other moments that will be more important.

I believe that's true.

Work is this place where for most full time employed people you spend a huge majority of your time. Trading this time to do something to then get paid. You either work to live or live to work.

It sure does get in the way of other things, but I need the money to do the other things. I'm lucky where I am now is a good team with people that actually care.

A while back there was a call for casual workers at a new venue in town. Thought it would be good to head along to. There were 2 roles going. S came with me and went for one of the roles, I went for the other one. It was group type interviews.

I was one of the older people there, I was also one of the few that had a fulltime job. Most of the other people were either in school or fresh out of school. They never took my name down like they did for some other people. So afterwards I felt like I wasn't the type of people they were looking for.

It didn't bother me. I already have a fulltime job.

Weeks went past, then I got an email saying thanks by no thanks for the role. All good by me.

Then later on in the week I got another email say congrats, welcome to the team etc. Turns out the first email was for the other role type I had somehow had my name down for?

Currently I've signed contracts, read a bunch of stuff and have access to the app they use for shifts. I've got my first one in 10 days time. Doing some random task for 3 hours after my normal day job. Will see how it goes.
